History
Alio Labs was founded by Mike Scobey with a focus on exploring new manufacturing techniques in photonics, beginning with a strong emphasis on factory automation and advanced metrology technologies. As the team pushed the limits of precision measurement, important breakthroughs in thin film coating and high end metrology emerged. These advances paved the way for innovations that form our state of the art manufacturing technologies foundation.
In 2025, Alio Labs moved into a new 30,000 square foot building providing infrastructure to develop high volume production capacity. Within this modern facility, Alio designed and built thin-film coating equipment from the ground up, adding novel capabilities over the current, state-of-the art vapor deposition technology. This combination of expanded space, proprietary equipment, and a growing technical team transformed Alio Labs from a research driven organization into a scalable production operation.
