Alio Labs Inc., a leading thin film fab located in Santa Rosa California, and UltraFast Innovations GmbH (UFI®), a world leader in dispersive optics and advanced optical instrumentation based in Munich, have entered into a technology cooperation partnership. The partnership is designed to accelerate the development of next generation solutions for attosecond thin film optics, high laser damage threshold optics, and new instrumentation enabled by thin film innovation.

“This partnership is exciting because it brings together two highly complementary teams,” said Sam Sadoulet, CEO of Alio Labs. “The scientific depth of UFI combined with our production capability will help us advance performance levels that neither organization could achieve alone. It reflects our belief that Optics and Photonics needs a more connected and collaborative model to support the next era of innovation.”

“We are thrilled to team with the world class technologists at Alio Labs,” said Alexander Guggenmos, CEO of UltraFast Innovations. “Their capabilities in thin films and their commitment to precision and scale are an ideal match for our mission to push the limits of optical performance.”

Ferenc Krausz, Scientific Co-Founder of UFI and recipient of the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics, added, “Advances in ultrafast science depend on strong collaboration. This partnership positions both organizations to drive meaningful scientific and technological progress.”

The two companies will begin coordinated programs in thin film enabled performance, next generation metrology, and optical instruments for high-intensity laser systems. Additional developments will be announced as joint work continues to mature.
